Yoshiko Seino was born in 1962 and was a former editor at Marie Claire. She began taking photographs in earnest in 1995. Following her solo exhibition at the Comme des Garçons Aoyama store in 1998, her neutral and unique appeal was gaining acclaim both at home and abroad, but she took her own life in 2009. She is left behind only two photobooks and three books in the "Chicken Skin Photographs" series (originally planned to be five), a collaborative work with art director Kentaro Ishizaki.
