Bristol-born photographer Stephen Gill has earned national and international acclaim for his experimental, documentary-inspired perspective and his keen aesthetic sensibility. This book is a collection of photographs of "losing betting tickets" discarded at an off-track betting parlor in Hackney, London. Sometimes clutched, sometimes crumpled, and sometimes neatly discarded (i.e., with a fair amount of force), the tickets vividly portray the emotions of those whose hopes and dreams were instantly reduced to dust. In contrast to the vibrant, colorful cover reminiscent of a horse race, the book's all-black design is also exquisite. The cover and text can be separated, allowing the book to be displayed like an accordion. Published by his own label, Nobody.
