Titled "Supplement to the Italian Dictionary," this 1963 visual book by book artist Bruno Munari explores and explains various gestures used in Italy. Its source material is the 1832 book "Ancient Imitations in Neapolitan Gestures," which bears the following dedication: "To His Royal Highness Federico Guglielmo, Crown Prince of Prussia. Naples, October 15, 1832. Your most humble and most devoted servant, Canonico Andrea de' Yorio." In other words, it's a delightful way for Italians to introduce their native gestures to Germans. The accompanying notes for "Supplemento Dizionario" state, "The illustrations and text contained herein accurately reflect the period in which they were produced," revealing that the book also references illustrations from 1832.
