This is a collection of works by one of France's leading contemporary artists, Sophie Calle.
The embroidered cover begins with these words.
"She was successively called Rachel, Monique, Schindler, Calle, Pagliero, and Schindler. My mother preferred people to talk about themselves. Her life was absent from my work, and this irritated her. When I placed my camera at the foot of her bed at the time of her death―despite her fear that she might die while I was away, I wanted to be there to hear her final words―she loudly proclaimed, 'At last!'"

This is her first photobook in which she confronts her mother. It features photographs and diary entries, mementos of her life, presented in her own unique style. The luxurious book design, with its cloth binding and gold embroidery, perhaps evokes the book itself as a coffin or gravestone. Signed.

彼女が初めて、自分の母と向き合った写真集。母との記憶写真、日記が愛らしく彼女らしいテイストで収録されている。クロス装に金の刺繍という豪華なブックデザインは、本そのものを柩、墓標に見立てているのかも知れない。サインあり。
