This is a photo book by Paris-based photographer Marie Deshay. She has been working on a project to photograph women’s bodies, especially nude bodies, since 2016, and was affected by the global pandemic in March 2020. This book is a photo book in which she, who longs for a spiritual connection with women, tries to overcome the “gap” that divides her from the world.

“I want to photograph you from distance. On your phone/laptop, you will turn the video call on and I will be there with my camera. In your kitchen, on your bed, at your window—wherever you like.

I would like you to be naked or as undressed as you’re comfortable to be. For the first picture, I will be dressed; for the next one, I will be naked; for the last one you will be dressed and I will still be naked.” 

What is intimacy? Surprisingly, the women who were her subjects responded to her excessive requests with an open and dedicated attitude. The photos show women happily responding to the shoot in their own poses and styles. Women’s desires, compassion, movement, and the space for them exist in this wide world.

パリを拠点にする写真家、マリー・デエの写真集。彼女は2016年から女性の体、特に裸体を撮影するプロジェクトを進行しているさなか、202 0年3月の世界的なパンデミックに影響された。この本は女性たちと精神的な繋がりを切望する彼女が、自分と世界を分割するこの「隔たり」を乗り越えようとした写真集である。
「遠くから、あなたを撮る。携帯やパソコンで、ビデオ通話をオンにしていて欲しいのです。私はカメラを持ってそこにいます。キッチン、ベッド、窓際、どこでもいい。あなたの好きな場所で。
裸でもいいし、好きなように服を脱いでくれてもいい。最初の写真は、私は服を着て撮ります。次の写真では私は裸になります。最後の写真ではあなたが服を着て、私は裸のままで撮ります。」

親密さとはなんなのか。驚くべきことに、彼女のこの多すぎる要望に被写体の女性たちはオープンかつ献身的な姿勢で応じてくれたという。写真には、それぞれのポーズ、スタイルで楽しそうに撮影に応じる女性たちが写っている。女性の欲望、思いやり、動き、そしてそのための空間は、この広い世界に存在する。500部限定。
